What's Your Hair Type?
Below is a hair typing system created by Andre Walker. Vasuda Salon uses this system and it's been adopted nationally by cosmetologists that service a diverse range of clients. This Hair Typing System gives a general idea of your hair type but is a great tool when stylists collaborate, or you need to reach out to your stylist for information about your hair type. The system classifies curl patterns into 4 types with added subcategories.
True Hair Type Definition
Type: (1) A number of things or persons sharing a particular characteristic, or set of characteristics, that causes them to be regarded as a group, more or less precisely defined or designated; class; category. (2) A thing or person regarded as a member of a class or category; kind; sort. (3) A thing or person that represents perfectly or in the best way a class or category; model
When finding your true hair type Vasuda Salon stylists look at the following:
-
Texture (what is the size and cuticle condition of one strand)
-
Density (how much do you have?)
-
Porosity (does it hold moisture?)
-
Elasticity (does it stretch before breaking?)
