What's Your Hair Type?

Below is a hair typing system created by Andre Walker. Vasuda Salon uses this system and it's been adopted nationally by cosmetologists that service a diverse range of clients.  This Hair Typing System gives a general idea of your hair type but is a great tool when stylists collaborate, or you need to reach out to your stylist for information about your hair type.  The system classifies curl patterns into 4 types with added subcategories.

(2) A thing or person regarded as a member of a class or category; kind; sort. (3) A thing or person that represents perfectly or in the best way a class or category; model

When finding your true hair type Vasuda Salon stylists look at the following:

  1. Texture (what is the size and cuticle condition of one strand)

  2. Density (how much do you have?)

  3. Porosity (does it hold moisture?)

  4. Elasticity (does it stretch before breaking?)

  5. Curl Type (see chart above)
